Goodbye October!
I can’t say that I’m sorry that October is finally ending. I love November. The Phoenix weather is finally cool enough that we can enjoy being outside and I can wear jeans again! It’s nice enough out that I can actually cook and not worry about the house getting too warm from the darn oven, [...]
Collage Challenge #7
This is the final collage for the ClothPaperStudios 7-day Collage challenge. I didn’t do it over 7 days, I did it over four. It was a good distraction for a time when I was not able to stand up for very long in front of the easel. They’re not bad. Quite colorful, and they all [...]
Of speaking too soon
On Friday, after my treatment, I wrote:
And today, I had my treatment, which, last month, caused me to need tons of sleep. Not this month. I have energy, I’m feeling good, and I’m at the computer and soon at the art table!
Well, I spoke too soon. Saturday morning around 3 a.m. I woke with severe [...]
Oh yes, I’m 39 now…
Today is my birthday.
Pilar talked in her blog about how Oct. 27th happens to also be Sylvia Plath’s birthday. She was born 35 years before I was, but as an adolescent, I was obsessed with her work and especially The Bell Jar. In college, I wanted to write about her poetry and that of Emily [...]
Collage Challenge
A group I recently joined, Cloth Paper Studios (CPS) and they have a 7-day Magazine Collage challenge. I decided to participate after seeing Nancy’s collages.
I am so glad that I actually have time for art today and I’ll probably continue to do them as long as I feel the energy. Tomorrow is my treatment, I [...]
Some experiments and a tutorial
This week has not been as artistically productive as last week was. I have had dentist’s appointments, medical tests, and other “junk” happening. Today was the last appointment for dental stuff for the week, but Friday is my treatment, so I will likely “lose” that afternoon, since it wipes me out.
This is all good, even [...]
Productive Days
Yesterday I did complete two of the collages I mentioned earlier for my friends. Can’t show them, since I want them to be surprises!
I finished the third this morning. (poor photo, though!) I had put way too much extra heavy gel medium on the collage because I was adding wire to it. I spent some [...]
an inspiring day with a friend
Yesterday, my friend, Angie came over and we played. She did some soldering work and I did some work on some projects I promised for some friends. We talked for hours as we were working and, before we knew it, five hours had passed! It’s been great getting to know Angie and I know we’ll [...]
The journal pages
I finally found time to scan and explain all of my journal background pages from Teesha Moore’s class. The class was on the 7th of October, but I took my time in making them my own.
This is the first full page in the journal. It still needs the actual journaling, but at least [...]
I have returned!
I’m back from a week in Washington, DC. It was a great week in many ways. I had spent a summer in DC as an intern for the National Women’s Health Network 18 years ago, so I got to know and love the city while I was there. We stayed at the Marriott Wardman Park. [...]
