Productive Days

Yesterday I did complete two of the collages I mentioned earlier for my friends. Can’t show them, since I want them to be surprises!

I finished the third this morning. (poor photo, though!) I had put way too much extra heavy gel medium on the collage because I was adding wire to it. I spent some time this morning cutting out that extra gel medium and then painting over the areas where it pulled off the paint. It actually looks better, but it’s now not a collage for the friend for whom it was intended. It’s too dark and she’s not dark! So, this will stay in the studio for now…

I also spent some time working on the collages for my husband’s medical office. Below is the latest completed piece. The images are hand-colored from black and white images. They are from the works of Vesalius, a 16th Century artist whose images are amazingly detailed for the period!

I’m noticing that I’m using a lot of dark colors in my collage art these days. I’m sure it’s a mood thing! October is always a dark month for me, even here in Phoenix, where the weather is gorgeous and there is not a cloud in the sky!

Today I’ll focus on something brighter, like the final piece for the friend I mentioned regarding the piece above. I have an idea, but we will see if it pans out.
