Oh yes, I’m 39 now…

Today is my birthday.
Pilar talked in her blog about how Oct. 27th happens to also be Sylvia Plath’s birthday. She was born 35 years before I was, but as an adolescent, I was obsessed with her work and especially The Bell Jar. In college, I wanted to write about her poetry and that of Emily Dickinson. They both had major influence in my life, though I’m happy to say, I can enjoy their poetry from a different place now.
On to happier things! As birthdays go, this is a nice quiet one! I received in the mail this is a picture my niece, Eliana, drew for me on my birthday card:
She likes to draw and always makes me smile when she does. It’s a tradition that she draws something in each card she sends to me and Uncle Dave. I’ve watched her go from tracing her hand to doing something as expressive as this card. It makes me smile!
When I just talked with her and her mother, it was confirmed that the picture is actually of me and Eliana, and it really does look like us! A young artistic talent among us!
And today, I had my treatment, which, last month, caused me to need tons of sleep. Not this month. I have energy, I’m feeling good, and I’m at the computer and soon at the art table!
After treatment, I went to the art store (YAY! Happy Birthday to me! LOL) and I bought some new colors of the Caron D’Ache Neocolor II’s and 4 Golden Fluid Acrylics. I also “needed” two more black Pitt pens.
I did some more of the CPS Magazine collage challenge this morning before I left for my treatment.
One more to go and then I’m through hte challenge and I can toss the images strewn all over my desk away!

What a sweet card from your neice Eliana! Lovely little talent she has! Love your mag. collages! So bright and colourful! Glad your treatment went well and you got to go spoil yourself to some wonderful treats! Btw can I have your home addy so I can add it to my address book? pweeeeeease!
