Works in Progress - Continued

So, I thought I’d continue to show you how these are emerging! Here is the latest:

Work in Progress 1 - As I mentioned in the prior post, this one needed some toning down. In real life, it looks more green, so I used some green acrylic to unify the background and make it less dominant [...]

Works in Progress - Dried

Here are some additional pictures of the WIPs, now that the gel medium has dried:

Work in Progress 1 - I love the colors here, but I think it’s going to need some toning down. The design right now is far too busy!

WIP 2 - This one has some real design to it. [...]

Art for today

I have some works in progress to share today. Nothing finished, but at least one layer on each of these small canvases.
The first two are 5 x 5 canvas. Both are just in the starting stages. I am going to let them dry overnight and I hope to at least get one more [...]

Manic Monday!

It’s time for Manic Monday!
To celebrate, this week, we start off with two things for the first Manic Monday! After the Thanksgiving Holiday, we’re all thinking about the winter holidays. And so, today’s drawing will be for the following:
A brand new (never used!) set of Christams Tree Cookie Cutters and a stamp from Rubber Stamp [...]

Artwords - Window

I was quite inspired by the Artwords topic of the week, “Window”! My mind went in many different directions, but in the end, it was a sheet of watercolor paper and my Pigma Micron pen that finally “won”. Most of my work is very textured and collage, but fo this one, I felt I [...]

New Collage Sheets! And Introducing Manic Mondays!

I can hardly contain myself! I am so excited to share with you something that I hope you will like! Today, I am introducing my first three alphabet collage sheets! These sheets are available right now in my etsy shop for purchase. They feature my original hand-painted backgrounds and hand-penned lettering. They are perfect for [...]

Better day, Studio Friday and Sneak Peek!

Today I woke up with energy and I felt much better. Thanks to all of you who sent me well-wishes. It means a lot!
Studio Friday’s topic is Comfort and so I thought that with all the health stuff going on this week, I should share my “comfy chair” (left). It’s a chair I [...]

Thankful

It’s Thanksgiving here in the US. And I’m still fatigued from my treatment yesterday. Thankfully, I don’t have to cook today. We’re visiting some family this afternoon for the holiday. We just have to bring a fruit plate, which I’ll send my husband out for later today.
Some things I’m thankful for:

My darling husband, Dave, who [...]

Warm wishes

I had my treatment today and it’s hitting me earlier than last month’s, so I’m not going to get any real art done today. I did a few backgrounds, but I don’t even have the energy to photograph and post them.
So, before I take a crash landing onto the couch, I wanted to take a [...]

  • What's This Blog All About, Anyway?

I'm Fran Saperstein. I'm an artist and writer sharing my life with my wonderful husband, David. In this blog I will share some of the art I'm doing, tell you about how I live my life with chronic illness, and still maintain a positive life here in my Phoenix, AZ home studio. I'll share what I'm experimenting with, what I'm writing and even (beware!) what I'm thinking. I am always looking to try new things and to experiment. I'll share some of my experiments here.
