Accomplishment!

This week’s Artword is “Red”. As I mentioned in an earlier post today, I felt like I didn’t get much done. Well, my dear husband is at the Rolling Stones concert and so I had a quiet evening to hunker down and do some art. This is what came out!
I painted the background a burgundy yesterday, but when I looked at it today, it was far too pink for me. I decided to re-do the canvas by covering it with hand-decorated papers that appeared when I went to my “red” pile. I like how this has come out. It’s different for me, in that the line is so defined sort of like a horizon. I struggled with how to break up the space on top, but I ended up with an additional layer of the painted tissue paper. I’m pleased wit this collage, overall. It is available for purchase here.
I completed a second small work, entitled, “Arizona Landscape”. This is also created with hand-decorated papers, acrylic paints, and paper. It measures 4″ x 4″ and is on gallery wrapped reinforced canvas. I like the colors in this painting. It seems to me like the red represents the mountains here in Phoenix – It looks a lot like Camelback Mountain, to me at least! I’ve also placed this up for sale on Etsy, here.
I’m working on more collages right now, and I will continue to work tonight until I run out of steam – or wax – whichever comes first!
