Art for today – “Bird”
Posted on | November 21, 2006 | 5 Comments
This week’s “Artword” is “Bird”. I have not tried to do anything with a bird in the past, but I figured that the shape of a bird was something I could probably create with my collage work. I’m fairly happy with the result of this mixed media piece. It’s created with handpainted (with acrylic) papers, encaustic wax, and a printed phrase by Maya Angelou, one of my favorite poets and writers. The text reads, “A bird doesn’t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song.” I think that’s such an important point. We all have something to say!

Love the quote – a great reminder of why we do art…and the eye of the red bird, watching.
