The Finished Page – “She Dreams in Color”
Posted on | December 6, 2006 | 6 Comments
Art journaling is interesting… Some pages will sit here for months before I finish them, but this one came to me. It needed to be finished. Once I decided it didn’t need words, just a face to describe the feelings, “She Dreams in Color” was easy to finish. I’m really pleased with this one. I think it’s going to be framed this week and then it will be my first “official” permanent addition to my studio!
I do, however, think she might look good on fabric… maybe a t-shirt…. Hmmmm… I have an idea for her! I am actually participating in a 2007 journal quilt project. I think she will be printed on fabric and she’ll have some embroidery that accentuates her face and the surrounding color. Maybe some beading. Oh my! I’ve been blocking on this quilt thing since I agreed to it. I was worried about the 8 1/2 x 11 size, since i have NEVER done a quilt before… but I’m really likE this idea. I am fairly sure she needs to be done in cloth! And she shall be!

Oh she is gorgeous! She’d be perfect for the front of a bag or the back of a jacket. I love her hair!

Oh yes! She’ll make a beautiful quilted piece. This is wonderful work, Fran. You should be very proud of her!
Hope you’re feeling better now.

I love the swirling colors and complex patterns in the background, Fran. It very much evokes a vivid and wonderful dream… the kind you don’t want to wake up from. I’m glad you’ve chosen to hang her in your studio!
Hugs, Shari

Thank you all so much! I went to try to find the right frame for her, and I didn’t find the “right” one. In the meantime, I have printed her on fabric, so I will start the embroidery soon!
