Big happenings in the studio

Today, though no art was completed, there was, indeed some exciting things happening. I met the UPS man at the door when he brought a 28 pound box to my door. It was my long-awaited Best Lobo Easel. I had originally seen this easel on Sarah Blank’s blog. I’m so excited about this easel because
- My last easel didn’t hold up well to large canvases, though it’s a good sketchbox/traveling easel
- This one is solid oak. It will hold up to my abuse!
- It converts and can also be set down flat so that it can be used for watercolor.
- It can hold larger canvases (I currently have a 36″ x 36″ canvas on it, testing out the new space!
In preparation for placing the easel, I realized I needed to get to some of those shelves I had been ignoring. I found some things I had forgotten about, which I will have to figure out how to sell or give away. I also found all my thread for my sewing machine that I had purchased in Kansas City (This is a HUGEly wonderful thing! I was searching for that!). And I organized my fabric and found some pieces of old kimonos that I had traded for years ago. I held on to them, knowing I would eventually have a use for them. Now that I’m doing more sewing, I’m glad I found them. I also re-discovered some hand-embroidered linens my MIL’s mother embroidered. In the move, she kept them so I could do something with them. Now that I’ve reorganized those, I am starting to form an idea. I won’t share that, though, since my MIL reads my blog! (Hi Mom!) In addition, she gave me some vintage linens that have neat patterns on them. Her father used to travel, so he would get her a linen dish towel or table cloth. They look lovely folded and stacked on top of each other. I’ll have to photograph the different stashes tomorrow.
I am also quite excited that I get to spend tomorrow with Angie. We are supposed to go to the Carefree Fine Art & Wine Festival for a few hours. I really need some Angie time and I need to be out of the house for a while.
It’s been a trying week in different ways than usual for me. I have started to react poorly to what used to be my “safe” foods. The first problem was when one of the companies added milk to the formula I used to be able to eat. I’m highly allergic to milk. So I took antihistamine, bathed in colloidal oatmeal, and slathered myself in hydrocortisone cream. I have been on a steady regemin of Benadryl and hydrocortisone… It’s not fun. I’m actually thinking, though, that this whole thing may have a silver lining – I hope to lose weight, since I can’t eat any of my former snack foods. We shall see… I’m keeping a close eye on all that goes into my body and I’m carrying around extra Benadryl and hydrocortisone tomorrow. I’m sure I’ll have photos to share, so I’ll check in tomorrow.

Yes, to surprise arrivals and found objects. Yuck to the food allergies. “Cat” and I have sensitivities but not usually severe reactions. I sincerely hope you’ll be able to have a great time at the festival and being with Angie.
Hugs,
Wendy XOXO

Fran, I sent you a private email, but it occurs to me that I may not be on your list of recipients and headed for your trash folder. Anyway, I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed visiting your blog. The February quilt is wonderful. Your photos are fun (and your hair definitely looks red). I love your art and I look forward to seeing what you do with your cool new easel. I hope you have a great time with Angie.
