I had a lovely Passover Seder with my Mother-in-Law, Father-in-Law, husband and dear friend, Angie. This was Angie’s first time at a Seder. I was so excited that she was joining us. We sort of made it a tradition in our home to have at least one non-Jewish person at a Seder each year. It started the first year we were married when we were stationed in San Antonio during my husband’s internship. I was in graduate school, but did all the cooking and table-setting. Our second year, I cooked for about 24 people. Only Dave, a friend named Todd, and I were Jewish at the table. Everyone else was there for a long-overdue home-cooked meal!
It was so much fun to introduce our friends to our traditions and to sing our version of “Had Gad Ya”, which every person at the table gets involved in.
Well, while it was a lot of work to get ready for the Seder, I was so blessed to have my family and Angie there. My MIL and FIL brought vegetables and some Charoset, the traditional mix of nuts, apples, sugar or honey, cinnamon, and wine. And Angie was instructed to bring just herself. However, dear Angie made me this beautiful pendant to the left. I had to share it! This is a real feather trapped between two pieces of glass and then soldered. I can’t wait to wear it this weekend!

The pendant is just beautiful! I cannot imagine cooking for 24 people, lol. It sounds like you had a wonderful time with your family and friends!

thanks for telling us a little about the Seder. I was going to ask how you celebrate the passover. You are so brave to cook for so many people. I’d be terrified. Sigh – entertaining’s not one of my accomplishments. So is it appropriate to say “happy passover”? Or what type of greeting is appropriate? And I love the pendant. Someday soldering is something I want to try. I have to accomplish a few other goals first though.
