More paintings

Well, it took a while for me to be comfortable enough with these paintings to share them.
And one, still, is not where I’d like it to be. I realized, however, that it’s been a while since I posted, so I thought I should share the art and let you all know I’m alive and kicking! I’ve just been painting.
To the left is the only one done on canvas board. I’ve not really done most of these on un-stretched canvas so I can use them in fabric projects. However, I have yet to actually do anything with them. That’ll be a new challenge for me to focus on after the opening for SunSpirit Studios. In the meantime, this one is different, in that I used gesso to texture the background. It allowed me to use some washes and rubbing off colors to get the depth and texture.
To the right is the one that I’m not sure is finished yet. Her hands need work, as does the heart. It’s the first time I’ve tried to create something with arms! LOL She will have something painted on the face, and her hair needs a bit of work, I think… I’ll show more of her when I decide what’s next.
And, to the left here is another that is on un-stretched canvas. What I like about this one – besides the differently-shaped face than most of my other faces – is that I used a new paint I bought for one of the layers of background. I’m not sure you can see it, but it’s Golden’s Indian Yellow Hue. All of these were painted with Golden’s Fluid Acrylics. I am now addicted to them. I go to Arizona Art Supply whenever I’m in the area and I add more colors as I see them. Once I bought the same color twice, since I’m often attracted to the same color over and over again. So, this time, when I went, I had a list of all the Golden Fluid Acrylics on my shelf. Much better plan, don’t you think?
And, on a personal note, I just wanted to remind everyone to please schedule your mammograms and to do your breast exams. I had my annual mammogram today. As women, we are all at risk. Please, please, please! Do NOT delay your mammogram. You never know what they can catch early and treat early. Early detection is SO important.

I love them. Especially the first one. You have a great talent. I always get mamogram every year for birthday. My gift to myself.

Your paintings reflect a depth of feeling and thought. I love the way they hint at their personalities and histories.

Fran, These are fantastic! I love the spiky hair on the first one! But gosh, they are all so pretty! Can’t wait to see them tomorrow IRL!

Wonderful Fran! I’d say you have it all figured out. I’m just getting starting with acrylic painted faces and am struggling a bit with the blending of the skin tones (shading, etc.) But I’m going to keep practicing.
