Gifts: Finished Totes

Tote - Blue & GreenI mentioned in my last post that I was working on some arty totes for the nurses at my husband’s practice who take care of me during my monthly treatments. Blue & Purple ToteAfter seeing them in process, my husband asked if I’d make one for the free clinic nurse manager. (Click on them to see larger images!)

The first, to the left, is blue and green with some pink andyellow tossed in for good measure! The entire tote is quilted. As you look through these totes, you’ll notice that there is green in each one. Green is known as a healing color and, since all four of the recipients are in the healing profession, I thought it was appropriate. Of course, it helps that green is one of my favorite colors, so I’m drawn to it in my search for fabrics!

To the right is a purple and turquoise tote. I created this one for the nurse manager of the infusion clinic who LOVES purple. Her house is purple, her scrubs are purple, her socks are purple. So, I made hers purple!

Lime Green ToteThe third (to the left) is for the youngest of the three clinic staff. She’s in her early 20′s and likes to wear bright colors, so the lime green suits her well.Tote - Large Green & Multi And finally, to the right, is the tote for the nurse manager of the free clinics. She’s over 6 feet tall, so I needed to make her a bag that was in proportion to her size. Anything smaller would look wrong on her. She loves color and so this one is filled with color!

So, all four were completed, finally, yesterday. ! Each of them features a one-of-a-kind fabric collage. I used vintage kimono fabrics in them along with some fibers I found in my stash.

I enjoyed making these so much that I think I am going to start making more today!
