Week 2 Farmhouse Painting

Posted on | February 15, 2008 |

Farmhouse Week 2As I mentioned last week, I plan to use a photo I did of a farmhouse/shack in Sedona as a learning piece each week. After I go through the exercises in the class, I’m going to see how my work has changed by going back to this reference photo I took. I’ve done that for this week and the results are to the right. I can see a distinct difference. I am feeling more sure of my brushstrokes, I’m getting a better sense of how the pencils work, and I’m more comfortable with using my Pigma Micron for final details, rather than as the bones of the drawing. I hope to continue to improve upon this picture as the weeks go on!

I hadn’t thought about using the micron for details. Good tip.

Wow, Fran! I love what you are doing with your watercolor pencils. I nearly joined in on the class too when you posted about it but felt that it just wasn’t the right time for me to do it. Thanks for sharing. I’m really enjoying your work! Marilyn
