Wednesday Update

Posted on | March 12, 2008 |

This morning I am waiting for the visiting nurse to come and start my IV of my monthly treatments. I’m happy to be doing it in the privacy of my own home. I really feel better when I know I don’t have to drive or be driven both ways. We’re also expecting my sister-in-law this morning. She’s in town for a genetics conference and will be staying here.

bird drawingsThis week has been pretty good so far. I spent Monday with Angie. I watched as she repainted the hands on her fabulous painting for her church’s prayer week. She’s one of several artists who were asked to work an a 3′ x 3′ canvas. It’s her largest ever and it’s been quite a challenge for her. She hopes to finish it tomorrow, since it’s due on Friday! :) It was good to catch up and to have a play day together. It has been far too long since we had that much uninterrupted time!

drawing practice - animals & birdsI have been doing more watercolor pencil drawing this week. As you see from the scans of my journal, we’re working on birds and animals this week. I’m using reference photos so I can get an idea of the shapes and colors of the birds. I hope to catch glimpses of some live, but for now, I’m finding the shaping and shading a fun challenge. To the left, I’ve started to move on to owls (I’ve collected owls for most of my life!), ducks and a bonobo (from an image in Smithsonian Magazine). I’m going to continue to draw today, I hope, while I’m having my treatment. That, of course, depends upon which hand will have te IV!

I’ll post more later in the week!

I love your birds. I have bird drawing envy.

    Hope your treatment went well.

    Hi Beautiful,
sorry it’s been so long since I’ve stopped by for a visit. You understand about challenges though.
I am so glad you were able to do a play date. I only dream of them but they sound like so much fun. I know how important they are for you. And I’m also glad you’re able to have your treatments at home. that would make a HUGE difference I’m sure.

    Loving all your watercolour images.
