an artistic journey

Back in the swing

Posted on | July 25, 2008 |

Well, now that you’ve read of my trip to France, and I’ve documented that, I’m happy to share that I’ve been doing other things the past week. I’ve been preparing for Art Unraveled. Five or six of my art friends are coming into town and we’re looking forward to a great week with them. I’ve been working on some sewing and I’m getting ready to work on some trades for the show, too.

Project in process

Drawing from Paris printed on InkJet fabric and painted

For this year’s trades, I decided to do what I did last year - some ephemera packs. I have so much saved up ephemera that it’s the perfect thing to give someone, especially since they’re coming into town for a mixed-media convention! The other advantage is that it gives me a reason to go through my ephemera to see what I have. I never seem to remember what I have until I get into that stash!

I can’t show you what I’m sewing just yet, but I can show you one small tease. I took an image that I had drawn in France and I scanned it and printed it out on fabric. I painted each of the print-outs and I’m using them as a decorative element. That’s all I can say for now! I know, I’m a tease!

I’ve also been working on some of the catalysts that are coming up. Watch for more art this weekend! :)

  • What's This Blog All About, Anyway?

I'm Fran Saperstein. I'm an artist and writer sharing my life with my wonderful husband, David. In this blog I will share some of the art I'm doing, tell you about how I live my life with chronic illness, and still maintain a positive life here in my Phoenix, AZ home studio. I'll share what I'm experimenting with, what I'm writing and even (beware!) what I'm thinking. I am always looking to try new things and to experiment. I'll share some of my experiments here.
