I love to hear people sing, but I was the one who was told to "just mouth the words during school concerts (this was before anyone ever thought of lip-synching as a talent) and my children never like me singing lullabies to them; and when I try to sing a melody to have someone identify a tune, they NEVER recognize what I'm going for. Even just a little. When I'd sing as a child, my mother would always say "Dance, don't sing." It's only been recently that I'd even sing happy birthday out loud cuz I thought I was so off-key!
