Tripping

So, I tripped Thursday evening. I thought it was nothing and that I just bruised my knee.
Well, by Friday afternoon, I had swelling in my right hand and realized that I’d broken my fall with my outstretched hand. After a day of keeping it in a brace (which I had because I use it to relieve my carpal tunnel), it was still swollen and more painful.
This morning, we went and got x-rays and a cast put on to immobilize the thumb. Though it appears from the x-rays that I don’t have any fractures, the area where I hurt is difficult to see on the films. I’m in a temporary cast and then I will see a hand surgeon this week to make sure it is just a sprain and if not, to find out what needs to be done.
To say the least, I’d be much happier if this had not happened; however, such is life… Art will be difficult without my dominant hand, but I keep saying to myself that this is an opportunity to do some non-dominant hand painting and really allow my abstracts to just “be”. We shall see.
I will update more when I see the doc…

Fran,
I hope you didn’t break any bones and that it’s just a sprain and will feel better soon.
